A huge Thank You to … Our walkers! We are so excited for this week, not only because we love what we do, but we wanted to show off the people that truly make a difference in each of your pet’s lives. What better way to celebrate Professional Pet Sitters Week (3/6 – 3/12) than with back stories of the one’s that care for your pets.
Check it out, you may even see your walker here.
First up, Brandy.
What is your favorite part of working with animals daily?
Just being around them makes my day. Whenever I walk someone’s dog, I always think of the dog as my own, as I feel like I’m their owner for the next 20-25 minutes. It’s great to work with them on the things they’ve learned in training and teaching puppies the things they’ll be learning in the future.
What is your favorite game to play with the pet’s you visit daily?
Fetch! It’s fun to find a dog’s special toy and throw it to them and watch them go retrieve it. I’ve even caught one of the dogs lying down with her head on the toy and she looked so cute!
What are your outside hobbies?
I ride horses at a barn with a long time family friend of ours. While I started back up riding last year (early 2015), I do hope to be able attend some shows sometime in the future.
What is unique about you or a passion that you want to showcase about you?
During the spring and fall semesters, I play for the McHenry County College concert band on Monday nights. I play the trombone and have since 4th grade, and I hope to pick up a bass guitar sometime in the future.
Next up, Elizabeth!
What is your favorite part of working with animals daily?
My favorite part of working with animals all day is all the amazing greetings I get from each pup every time I arrive for our walks. It’s like getting a big hug over and over again and seeing the happiness in their faces, knowing they are truly happy to see you.
What are your outside hobbies?
Outside of dog walking, I love working on our yard (when the nice weather returns!), especially cultivating different varieties of hydrangeas, interior design, and baking! As a former pastry chef, I’ll always have a passion for creating desserts for family and friends.
What is unique about you or a passion that you want to showcase about you?
I am a die hard greyhound lover! Being a mom to 2 retired racing greyhounds, I have taken greyhound rescue very seriously. I’m always trying to bring awareness to those around me and educate others on the wonderful temperament and personalities of greyhounds. Getting as many hounds off the racetrack before they are euthanized and into loving homes is something near and dear to my heart!
Why did you choose to do pet sitting?
Spending time with animals has always been something I treasure, and when I learned about dog walking and pet sitting as a career, it was the perfect fit for me! I get so much gratification from making a difference in each of those pets’ lives. Every day that I show up, I know that it just makes their day! Pet sitting and dog walking was an obvious choice, especially after meeting the folks at Prairie Path.
My, oh my it’s Christienne!
Christienne, known by many of you as “Tienne” has loved animals of every kind since early childhood. Her interview is sure to bring a smile to your face.
What is your favorite part of working with animals daily?
My favorite part of working with animals daily is cultivating a unique relationship with each of my friends. I love to learn their personalities, favorite toys, likes and dislikes, and of course their favorite spots for rubs and loves! All those efforts allow me to have a deeper loving connection to each of them!
What are your outside hobbies?
I have always been a very creative person and I love to write poems, children’s stories and take pictures! I use my writing skills and pictures to make personalized, unique cards for friends and family whenever I can- just to let people know I’m thinking about them and add a little perk to their day!
What is your favorite game to play with your pet clients?
Each of my animal friends has a unique personality which makes different games awesome for different friends! I would have to say that one of my favorite games is when we take time to get extra close for rubs and loves and make what I call a “cuddle puddle”!
What is unique about you or a passion that you want to showcase about you?
I have always had a passion for helping others- animals or humans! I am able to make unique connections with others to give them the care and love they need to be healthy and happy daily and in times of need. Anything I can do to show others they are cared for I do and it brings others and myself joy! Even if it is a quick connection with someone who is bored or disconnected at work- I will try and usually succeed to get them to see my friendly face and get a smile!
Why did you choose to do pet sitting?
I wanted a way to share my passion and skill for caring for others. Humans and animals alike need love and I have allot to give! This industry gives me plenty of opportunities to do so!
Thank you to each and every single one of our walkers. Your dedication, hard work and love for each of your clients is what truly makes Prairie Path Pet Care great!
